International Museum Day, which is celebrated on May 18, is set up by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). In 1977, in order to promote the healthy development of the global museum and attract the public to understand, participate in and pay attention to the development of museums, ICOM declared May 18, 1977 as the first International Museum Day to the world, and set the theme for the International Museum Day every year.
The theme of 2019 International Day of Museums is: Museums as Cultural Hubs: Future of Tradition. This theme focuses on the role of museums as active participants in communities and society, and advocates that museums should provide high-quality cultural supplies to enhance the public's sense of cultural identity and belonging, and improve the public's sense of happiness and acquisition.
The third quarter of "Xuzhou Treasure Come to Visit", Xuzhou museum voluntary community service activity, was smoothly held in Fenghuayuan community, Quanshan district. Mr. Donglei, a collector and connoisseur of ancient coins and a volunteer of Xuzhou museum, brought community residents an "Ancient Coins" seminar. Teacher Dong introduced the history of ancient coins, the characteristics of the coins in Han dynasty and the origin of the word "Quan". Through the on-site observation of teacher Dong's private collection and other forms, the audience enjoyed a rich cultural feast.
Talent Show
The Han dynasty music stage play "Han Yue Chapter", played by Jiangsu Liuqin Theatre, was performed in the courtyard of Qianlong palace of Xuzhou museum. The performance starts with the court music of Han dynasty, "the Eight Notes of Qin", including eight pieces of Dan song "Eighteen Beats of Hujia" and Chu song "Song of Wind". Through more than 20 kinds of ancient musical instruments such as Hujia, pan Xiao and ocarina, the influential historical stories of Han dynasty are integrated into the music.
Artistic Creation
The youth sketch team, composed of several professional art education institutions, adds a lively atmosphere and artistic creativity to the museum. Through the observation and understanding of cultural relics’ shape, color, decoration and other aspects, Children will use their hands to create their own works of art. These works also truly illustrate the theme of International Museum Day, "Future of Tradition".
Xuzhou museum cultural creativity life house also launched promotional activities to celebrate May 18. The cultural and creative contest winning works, "One-hit Surprise" series of stationery, Yunqi series of woman's bags, "Various of Bookmarks" series of cultural bookmarks have attracted many audience to buy.
Thumb up for National Treasure
Guided by the National Cultural Heritage Administration, China Radio, Film and Television Social Organization Federation, sponsored by the traffic publicity committee of China radio and television association, Radio and Television Group of Jiangsu province, undertaken by Jiangsu Traffic Broadcasting Network and Nanjing museum, and with a number of museums jointly participated, the mini program "Thumb up for National Treasure" has launched online.
